This seat is DEFINITELY winnable for Democrats in 2023, and we really *must* win it – period

Victor McKenzie, Jr announced on Thursday that he is seeking the Democratic nomination in HD-82. This district is based in Petersburg and Surry and includes part of Dinwiddie and Prince George. According to analysis from VPAP, Glenn Youngkin won HD-82 by two points in 2021.

Victor is doing impactful work at SAARA of Virginia helping families impacted by substance use disorder and addiction. He also just announced that he is running for the VA House of Delegates - district 82, South of Richmond. That's a big deal. He is poised, passionate, and just 29 years old - a good bit below the average age of a state elected official.

It seems improbable that the executive director of the Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Alliance of Virginia is only 29 years old -- until you talk to him.

Substance use disorder, or SUD, has had a lot of attention in the last few years as the opioid epidemic has reached a fever pitch, and the pandemic has made recovery even more difficult for those suffering.
